~ Interview with Aramond from Marked by Love ~
Aramond, why do you think I wrote your book?
Aramond turns away from the fireplace and settles himself in the chair across from me. Dark hair falls around his ears, and the shadow of a beard coats his strong jaw. He runs his hand through his thick, dark hair. His deep brown eyes twinkle with a hint of amusement, and he smiles. “That’s a good question. I think you,” he nods to me as if there’s a little secret between us, “couldn’t forget about me.”
I swear my knees knocked together. To hide my nervousness, I adjust myself in my chair and try not to stare. How right he is, but I don’t dare tell him. He’d like that kind of declaration from me, of that, I have no doubt.
Tell me, why are you here, on Earth?
He studies me for a moment, his dark eyes assessing me, then he shrugs. “I’m a rogue Panthera, fighting for my goddess Alora in this brutal war over Earth’s water. Gossum are an evil scourge, their desire to enslave humans and take Earth’s water by force. You and your kind better pray we win.”
Despite the fire raging in the hearth, goosebumps form along my arms. I shiver. “That sounds dire.”
He chuckles. “It is.”
“Tell me, Aramond, why are you a ‘rogue’ Panthera?” I want him to squirm for a change.
His jaw tightens for a brief moment then his smile returns, his chipped tooth flashing in the light. “I’m an alpha male in a Pride of one. I won’t bow to another male.”
Funny, I’m the one fidgeting once again.
What is your sign?
He laughs, a big hearty laugh that warms my heart, reminding me why I’d always liked him. “My birthday is May 1st, so that makes me a Taurus. You do know what they say about Taurus’s don’t you?” His eyes gleam.
I swallow, unsure where this is going. “Um, no, but I’m sure you’ll tell me.”
He nods his head, the first sign of respect I’ve seen from him tonight. “Those born under the sign of Taurus are loyal, honorable, and devoted, to the right one, and they are one of the more sensual and romantic of the zodiac signs.”
What is the title of your story?
“Marked by Love. How sweet.” He reaches over and pats me on the knee. The way his muscles ripple under his shirt catches my attention. How I envy Danae.
I clear my throat. “What is the meaning behind the title?”
A flash of mirth flits across his eyes. “Panthera bond through a bite mark on the throat, near the collar bone.”
My gaze flicks to his neck.
He smiles. “Females only. That’s just the way it is.”
What do you shift into?
He leans forward, a sudden energy emanating from him. “Would you like to see?”
This time, I’m the one who laughs. “Yes, Aramond. I’d love to see you shift.”
He stands and stretches, the muscles under his shirt rippling again, stretching the material tight. His eyes glow for a moment, turning a bright red. Was that the light from the fire or something more? Before I can decide, he shifts, his clothes disappearing under a thick coat of black fur. In his place, a powerful, lean, black panther. He paces in front of the fire, his muscles flexing and undulating beneath his skin. To say he was magnificent male specimen would be an understatement. As quickly as he’d changed, he shifts back to his human state, his clothes reforming to his body.
He rolls his shoulders, as if readjusting to this form. “Did you enjoy that?”
My mouth is dry, so I nod. That’s the best I can do.
Tell us about Danae. What drew you to her?
The widest smile I’ve seen yet creeps over his face, making him even more handsome than before. “Her smile and the determined look in her eyes. She is a fine female, worthy to be loved and respected.”
